MADRID - A Spanish dog travelled 20km, apparently by train, to find its way home after its owner went out of town and left it with relatives.

Sixty, a 4-year-old female who is part greyhound, is a regular on the Barcelona commuter rail network because owner Damaso Torres uses the grid to visit his sister-in-law in a suburb near Barcelona and often takes the dog along.

On December 6, Torres and his girlfriend left Sixty with other relatives in the same suburb and set out for Amsterdam.

At 3am the next morning they received a cellphone text message from a roommate in Barcelona reporting that Sixty had shown up outside the door.

The dog was not tired or dirty. "All signs that she took the train", Torres said.
